- Persistent foliage
- Exotic look
- Wide range of forms and colours
- Excelent in soil stabilizing (banks and borders)
- Creates very good windbreaks and excellent screens of greenery
- Dwarf bamboos are very good undergrowth plants (tapete) that can be trimmed (once or twice a year) like a lawn

- Young shoots when freshly harvested are edible once cooked (delicious as salad or garnishing vegetables)
